MOTLEY CRUE - ONE LAST TIME

Toronto's last Motley Crue concert, August 22nd, 2015.
Last Saturday, Rob and I did something with friends we'll never be able to do again, we went to see a Motley Crue concert in Toronto.

Motley Crue will never tour again when this concert tour comes to an end, at the end of this year. Sure, some of the members will go on with their side projects, but this was it for Crue in Toronto. I don't think I've ever been more aware of knowing I was seeing a band for the last time as I was Saturday night. It was bitter sweet.

As they played songs from their 35 year career I kept seeing the videos from the 80's play in my mind with the songs. And I was also flooded with my own Motley memories. FINALLY seeing them for the first time after moving here from Nova Scotia in June of 1990 at the Skydome on their Dr Feelgood tour. I was over the moon excited to be seeing a band I had been such a fan of for years. I remembered standing in line for hours at HMV on Yonge Street 16 years ago to meet them at a signing, and floating back home with my signed poster. Being lucky enough to meet Nikki at a private Hard Rock Cafe party in Florida in 2002. The Herion Diaries book signing in 2007, and the last time I saw them, "The Dead of Winter Tour" in February 2010, and lastly, seeing Nikki interviewed live for Canadian Music Week in March of 2011.

The energy inside the ACC center Saturday night was electric. You could feel the love for the band, and better yet, the love from the band for the crowd. I am so grateful I was a teenager in the 80's, I'm so glad I went to this concert, and I'm so grateful for Motley Crue, and especially Nikki, who unknowingly played a huge role in my teenage years.

Being a fan of this band over their career has been a memorable roller-coaster ride, and just like all great thrill rides, we were smiling when we got off.

I was pretty pumped about seeing Tommy-Lee ride "The Crüecifly".
We may of been in the 300 level, but we rocked like we had floors!
Nikki talking to the crowd.
This was insane, and I loved every minute of it.
The crew at the Crue! Thanks for the selfie Brian!
Jenn's final Motley tee.
Thanks to my friend Jenn for letting me use the photos she took with her phone!

MERRY & MOLLY - GET NATURE TV

Mesmerized!
A few weeks ago Rob introduced Merry & Molly to our favorite window in the house, the kitchen window. It over looks the backyard and we often refer to it as nature TV.

They were instantly hooked on our favorite channel and look forward to the shutters being opened every morning. The can easily pass away hours watching the birds and squirrels out there, and sometimes fall asleep on the window ledge.

We do plan to take them outside next Spring, like we did Meadow. They will be on a harness and leash, and also supervised. I only hope they will be as good as Meadow was out there, she preferred to chase the squirrels, not catch them and she never caught a bird, or really tried either, she was more like Garfield in that sense.

For now, Merry & Molly can enjoy the view through the window and dream of the adventures yet to come.

Rob experimented with black and white settings.
OH! What are they?!
Wow, I can't wait to get out there!
Wondering why they can't be with us.
All that stimulation is exhausting.
Don't worry girls, it will be time for you to go out there with us soon enough.

CATCHING UP

After having a pretty good weekend, I woke up on the holiday Monday quite ill. Without going into all the nasty details, I've been home the last two weeks with an intestinal illness. I'm looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow, and making the most of the last few weekends of August.

I spent most of my time on the couch and watched/napped through, a lot of reality TV shows. Even though the weather was great, I didn't venture outside much, I didn't have the energy. The couple times I did venture out with Rob, it was nice to see the birds/critters enjoying the backyard.

I spent a lot of time with Merry & Molly the last two weeks.
I'd often see "Rufus", our male Ruby-throated Hummingbird through the kitchen window.
Lots of young Blue Jays enjoying the yard.
Daddy cardinal taking care of his young.
Thrilled to have a Chipmunk back in the yard after a few years of not seeing any.
The kitties and I took lots of naps.
Seeing the Goldfinches in the yellow flowers in the yard signals the end of summer is near.
Three weekends left in August, make the most of them!

MERRY & MOLLY - GET A CONDO

The Kitty Condo!
We bought Merry and Molly a kitty condo not long after we adopted them. We waited a couple weeks to put it together because they were pretty busy with all the "newness" of their new home. The kitty condo was set up last Saturday, and they love it. It's a place to play, sleep and scratch.

Roar! I want the top bunk!
Room for two in here.
Just hanging out.
Nap time.
Merry approves this kitty condo.
