OUR ABERFOYLE ADVENTURE

The Vaudevillian Band performing at the Aberfoyle Antique Market.
On the Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend, Rob and I went on our one and only road trip of the summer. We ventured over to Aberfoyle, Ontario to visit the antique market and have lunch.

We had visited the Aberfoyle Antique Market a few years back, and were looking forward to a return visit. It's a large outdoor market that has been in business for over 55 years, and you never know what you are going to find!

Look very carefully at this pic....see anything interesting? (Click on photo to enlarge)
Rob looking for treasures.

This vendor had loads of old and some not so old toys.
After spending a couple hours at the market we went to the Aberfoyle Mill Restaurant for lunch. It's just down the street from the market and has been in business for over 40 years as a restaurant. It was once a working Grist Mill.

My new favorite restaurant.
The restaurant is full of rustic charm and antiques, I loved it. The food was outstanding and well presented. The staff very friendly and helpful. We both enjoyed 3 courses and are already talking about a repeat visit.

After lunch we took a stroll of the grounds which can hold weddings and banquets. We were treated to many dragonfly and bird sightings. The walk was a very enjoyable way to burn off some of the calories we'd just consumed.

Me enjoying the lovely day.
Here are pics of our purchases at the market that day, we spent a whopping $45 for all!

Planters for the backyard next Summer.
Wooden hand-painted Wood Duck.
Brass kettle...we like the tarnished look.
We had a fabulous day and are hoping to make it back to the market again this year before it closes for the season. I highly recommend a trip to both the market and the restaurant.
