FOODIE FRIDAY - MOROCO

A must do when in Toronto!
The weekend got off to a great start tonight when I met a girlfriend for an early dinner at a great restaurant not far from my work. I hadn't been to MoRoCo for a while and really enjoyed it.

Both Jenn and I took a few pics with our cell phones, as I forgot my camera at home. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the great weather so some of the pictures are shadowed.

This drink was called a "Hot Mess", which was how I felt after the work week.
I started with the Goat Cheese Salad.
I had the Truffled Mac & Cheese for my main, but forgot to take a pic of it. Luckily, Jenn had a pic of her order from a previous visit and emailed it to me!

Truffled Mac & Cheese
Dulce de Leche Caramel Cheesecake for dessert.
MoRoCo is famous for their Macarons
Bathroom Mirror.
This truly is a unique restaurant and worth a visit. Delicious food, funky atmosphere, gorgeous washrooms, and an on-site gourmet chocolate shop so you take goodies home. I look forward to my next visit!

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

Enjoying the beautiful September warmth and sunshine with a morning of birding.

This weekend turned out to be a weekend filled with a few of my favorite things.

First on that list was a morning of birding. Rob and I headed Whitby way Saturday morning to check out some local hot spots. I haven't done a lot of birding the last couple months due to the heat and the mosquitoes, so it felt good to be out, binoculars in hand. It was a good morning too. Saw lots of Hummingbirds fueling up for their trip south. I had a Blue Jay and Chickadees land in my hand for seed. Three chipmunks dancing around my feet for food was quite entertaining as well.

I never tire of hand feeding Chickadees.

Lots of chipmunks were around Saturday morning looking for a hand out as they stock up for winter.

Saturday evening we went to one of our favorite restaurants, "Lucy's Seafood Kitchen" in Mississauga with our friends Jim and Lynda for an early birthday celebration for Rob. Jim handed a rather large box wrapped in a seed bag from their bird store when we got out of the truck, which turned out to be a bottle of Rob's favorite Whiskey, "Forty Creek". We all enjoyed our meals, conversation, and their famous Peanut Butter Pie for dessert amidst a lot of laughs.

Enjoying an evening out with our friends, Jim and Lynda.

One of my very favorite things, Oysters!! Oh, and the "Hurricane" drink isn't bad either.

Me and my sweetie, he's my most favorite thing of all!!

Sunday morning I met up with two of my girlfriends for a late birthday celebration. We took the subway together downtown to "MoRoCo" for a fabulous brunch. Any place that gives you chocolate with your coffee is 2 thumbs up in my books! We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and time there, and discussed a return visit, soon.

The birthday girl, Amanda.

Jenn loved her "Breakfast Fondue".

This "Kiss Me Kate" red velvet cake is definitely a favorite!

Time spent with girlfriends is ALWAYS a favorite thing.

After a quiet and relaxing weekend last weekend, it was nice to get out and spend some time with friends.

FOODIE FRIDAY - PART ONE

Me, Sara and Emily getting ready to enjoy a delicious lunch at MoRoCo.

Today I took the girls who have been working in the office with me all summer out to lunch. I thought it would be a nice way to say "thank you" for putting up with me, I mean, being so pleasant to work with, as their time is coming to an end soon.

I took them to a restaurant in Yorkville that I only recently heard about, MoRoCo.
It's a french inspired boutique restaurant that specializes in chocolate with a little shop at the entrance selling lots of delectable chocolate goodies. It's beautifully decorated with lots of big plush chairs.

It saddens me that I have only just discovered this hidden gem, as it's been open three years. I will be visiting again soon, very soon.

The girls checking out the surroundings, most people chose the patio, but we wanted to take in the atmosphere of the place.

My lunch; Macaroni and Cheese with Truffle Oil, it was divine!

Our dessert platter, it was amazing and everything was delicious. I especially loved the red velvet cake. But the cake and chocolate that looked like a burger was good too, the french fries were shortbread with raspberry coulis for dipping! The spring rolls were chocolate, peanut butter and banana served with caramel sauce for dipping. It was chocolate heaven!

These two have been a pleasure to work with all summer, I'm going miss them.

and now I'm off for part two of "Foodie Friday", stay tuned.....
