REST & RELAXATION

Taking in the beautiful gardens at Rosetta McClain Gardens in Scarborough.

This past long weekend was a much needed one of rest and relaxation. We had been very busy the last few weekends and the next couple are quite busy as well, so we decided to take this one pretty easy.

Saturday we had an afternoon visit with our friends Jim and Lynda and ran a few errands. We were hoping to do a little birding, but the humidity was too much for both of us, so that didn't happen.

Sunday was spent at home doing a little of this and a lot of nothing. We went to Red Lobster for dinner and then to our friends Amanda and Brian's for a visit.

Holiday Monday had us heading East to Scarborough to take in the "Raptor Watch" that was started by a few local birders years ago. The watch takes place at the small but beautiful park, Rosetta McClain Gardens.

I was as excited to see the people as much as I was the many, many birds that kept flying over as they migrate, including; Bald Eagles, Hawks, Osprey, Kestrels, etc.

We hadn't seen some of our birding buddies since February, so it was good to catch up.

May not of been the most exciting long weekend we've ever had, but it was just what we needed.

Look up, look WAY up! Some of our fellow bird nerds at the Raptor Watch.

This male Cardinal flew in and landed at eye level to see what all the fuss was about.

Even the Canadian Geese are fun to watch during migration.

You needed the rest, for sure. As overcast as it was yesterday, it's good you got out with your fellow bird nerds.

Rosetta is beautiful. The Hawk Watch gang are great! Too bad we live on the other side of the city... can't visit as much as we'd probably like to.
